Questions about place value & decimals
Why do trailing decimal zeros not change a value?
A trailing zero adds no amount in that place: 0.5 and 0.50 both represent one half. A zero in the middle of a number can have a different role.
Is rounding an exact answer?
No. Rounding gives an approximation at a chosen precision. Keep the unrounded value when an exact calculation or a later step needs it.
